I had the pleasure of photographing a huge milestone: Bud and Carol’s 50th Anniversary!

It gives a little more perspective to the weddings we shoot to be able to document the “happily ever after.”

The celebration was held at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park but before the reception, we were able to get out and take some family photos…

And then commemorated their anniversary with dinner, cake and dancing!

Windsor High School hosted their own Windsor Invitational Track meet on March 12.

It’s always nice to run on your home track, and the team fared very well. Even among the powerhouse 5A schools in the area, Windsor Boys finished 4th and the Girls finished 5th.

Windsor’s appearance in the 4A Basketball Championship is a lot to be proud of! The game was a challenge from the very beginning, but the boys played the entire game with intensity and class.

The first track meet of the season started out with B-E-A-U-Tiful weather–very not like usual March meets. I’ll take it anyway!! Mother Nature reminded us who was in charge after lunch when she brought in some wind, clouds and a little rain. Of course, this is while everyone was waiting on the timing system to reboot and the boys were waiting to run the mile. Things cleared up quickly and it turned out to be a great meet.

I must also say that I was impressed with the schedule, too. We ran an average of an hour ahead of schedule and were able to leave early so that the students could get to the Championship game.

Good Luck this season, Windsor! Good first showing!!

WHAT A GREAT GAME!!!

The Wizards basketball team made it to the 4A Semifinal game last Thursday against Pueblo West. They traded the lead all game, and even were 10 points behind in the third quarter. I was completely impressed after a few timeouts when the team started making smart offensive decisions and played great, intense defense. Here are some favorites from the night:

And then a clutch freethrow made it 57-54…with 3.5 seconds left!!

And then time ran out!! Windsor wins 57-54!!!

But this is my very favorite photo from the whole night. So sweet!

Congratulations to the Wizards! You should be SO proud of yourselves!!!!

Windsor High School’s Spring Play was The Sting, which is also one of my very favorite con movies starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman. I liked the theater adaptation and it was really neat seeing the students making the story their own.

Last week, I got another colleague invitation to “work” at an event AND see old students again…one year older. How could I say no! :)

I have always liked sports events and it challenges my photographic skills when I have to anticipate movement and focus!

I still have strong connections with my old colleagues from my teaching life. You’ve seen them all over this blog–and I appreciate their support of my new venture.

It’s especially nice to come to an event and also be greeted by students and parents who are genuinely happy for me, even when I had to leave them to do so.

A few days before Mead’s musical, I received an email from a parent of the lead inviting me to take photos of the event. I was happy to oblige and see my old students one year older!! It was a great way to see them again and to get some great images from the event.

If you know me at all, you know I have a soft place in my heart for little girl tuba players. This sixth grader is cute as a button! ♥

Congratulations to my fabulous colleague, Mr. La, and the wonderful cast of Charleston. I am always impressed!!
