I really don’t know where to begin!  It was a tremendous honor to participate in welcoming a little one into the world.  It’s just one of those magical experiences that will always stay with you.  And documenting it with images was an amazing event.  :)

NOVEMBER 4, 2010

7:00 AM | Nate and Kristen arrive at CRMC and get settled into Labor Room 2.  Kristen arrived at the hospital already 3 cm dilated.

9:30 | I arrive, get unpacked and ready.  Everyone’s happy and excited.  Kristen received some gel and had some intense fast contractions, but they began subsiding and weren’t consistent.

12:45 | Dr. Dillon came in and broke Kristen’s water.  Contractions became very intense and painful.  She handled them very well, and Nate and his family were there to soothe her.

3:45 | Kristen got an epidural and began feeling much better.  :)
4:00  | The doctors and nurses checked her contractions and then went ahead with Pitocin, as she was still 4 cm.

After feeling better, Kristen got a chance to Skype with her mom, who was in Virginia.  She was, however, very excited and supportive!  Technology is wonderful!

4:35 | Nate and I went to the cafeteria to get a bite, as “nothing was happening” and then Celeste ran over to us. She’s 9 centimeters!!! We jumped up and ran back to her room.  (That’s always how it happens, right?!)
Dr. Dillon came in began discussing where Nate was going to be and what everyone needed to do.  People began coming in the room and it began to get crowded…getting close!  She began pushing at 4:45 pm.

5:00 pm | HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARLEY!!!!!!

6 pounds 13 ounces
19 1/2 inches
8 & 9 on the Apgar scale

Proud Grandma!!

Dad is falling in love.  ♥

Nate jumped right in and gave Karley her first bath.  He did great.  :)
